About the Opportunity Are you a senior finance professional looking to leave a lasting legacy? A unique opportunity to join a high-profile, integrated transport infrastructure and public transport program. Operating as an internal contractor within a major Government Department’s Project Controls team, you will serve as the Principal Advisor (Finance). In this pivotal role, you will manage, analyse, and report on the financial performance of a transformational, multi-billion-dollar infrastructure portfolio. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will ensure financial excellence, transparency, and accuracy across complex, multi-stage projects. Your daily responsibilities will include: Developing and producing sophisticated project financial reports, tools, and visual dashboards (using PowerBI) to meet diverse internal and external stakeholder requirements. Providing high-level financial analysis, trend forecasting, and clear explanations for variances to senior management and governance groups. Collaborating with regional finance teams to manage monthly cash flow processes and reporting. Utilizing SAP, Oracle Primavera Unifier (3PCM), and other contract management tools to ensure all records are meticulously reconciled in line with strict departmental policies. Working productively with project teams, external partners, and internal business units to deliver timely financial insights. About You We are seeking a self-sufficient, highly communicative leader who thrives in dynamic project environments. To be successful, you will possess: A Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) status and/or a tertiary degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Proven experience working as a finance manager within a government department or public sector environment. Demonstrated experience with SAP (highly advantageous) and advanced proficiency in building financial dashboards using PowerBI. A track record of making considered, ethical financial decisions within complex project frameworks. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong, trusted relationships across a diverse stakeholder network.
